How dangerous is lymphangitis of the foot?
Lymphangitis of the foot is initially a locally limited inflammation. Provided that it is fought and treated in time (usually antibiotic therapy against the underlying bacterial infection), lymphangitis is not a serious disease. However, if the infection spreads, it can cause serious complications such as blood poisoning. Damage to the lymphatic vessels and thus a reduction in the lymphatic drainage in the foot can also be the result.
