How long are you not allowed to work?

The duration of incapacity to work or sick leave depends on the course of the illness and certain risk factors. Usually, sick leave is taken during the period in which the patient is potentially infectious. Depending on the course of the disease, this period varies, but can usually be assumed to be about 2 weeks (sometimes 3 weeks).

With certain professions or very mild courses, it is possible to resume work early. Excluded from this are persons with professions that require close contact with people, for example teachers or medical staff. Patients at risk should also take it easy and observe a certain period of time before resuming work. This includes older people (over 55 to 60 years of age) and patients with weakened immune systems.
