How long can I use an interdental brush?
An interdental brush should be changed after approx. 14 days of regular daily use. The interdental brush removes plaque or food debris from the areas between the teeth that a normal toothbrush cannot reach.
For hygienic reasons, it is therefore recommended to change the interdental brush regularly. Since the spaces between the teeth can still be very narrow, the bristles bend during longer use and the bust loses its effect of extensive cleaning. Furthermore, the wire in the middle of the brush tends to break during longer use. This might also be of interest to you: How to remove plaque
What do I have to consider with implants?
As with natural teeth, the cleaning of implants is very important. As with natural teeth, bacterial plaque or tartar can form on a dental implant, which can lead to gum disease or inflammation of the implant. For implant care, brushes are recommended whose wire is plastic-coated so as not to damage the material of the implant.
However, it is important to make sure that the size of the interdental brush used is correct and fits well. It should be neither too large nor too small. The interdental brush should also be changed approximately every 14 days for implants.
What do I need angled interdental brushes for?
Access to all interdental spaces in the mouth is often very difficult. The shorter the shaft/handle or the holder of the brush, the more difficult it can be to access the interdental spaces from all sides. Angled interdental brushes are intended to help here.
They are particularly suitable for reaching the hard to reach spaces between the molars. By angling the handle or the holder, it is easier to reach the interdental space from the inside as well as from the outside.
