How long is the treatment period?
Often a laryngitis does not require treatment and disappears by itself within a few days. If household remedies are used, it is sufficient to use them until the symptoms subside. If antibiotic therapy is necessary, the treating physician decides on the duration of the therapy.
The duration of the therapy varies depending on the underlying pathogen and the antibiotic used. In most cases, the duration of treatment is no longer than 10 days, but may vary for the reasons mentioned above. If complications such as shortness of breath occur in the course of laryngitis, the duration of treatment can also be longer, as this usually results in a hospital stay with cortisone therapy. The duration of treatment therefore depends largely on the course of the disease.
