- Consumption of stimulants

- Heavy physical work
- Underweight (reduced nutritional and general condition).
- Overweight (BMI ≥ 25; obesity).

- Continuous all-layer abdominal wall closure.
- Thread length-to-wound length ratio: minimum 4:1 [continuous suture is superior to single button suture].
- Avoidance of excessive suture tension
- Avoidance of secondary bleeding
- Avoidance of wound infections
