At the beginning of the initial treatment by therapists, an anamnesis is taken, which means that the patient explains his medical history and the existing complaints. Based on other factors, such as age and fitness level of the patient, the therapist can get a good impression of the patient’s general condition. If the Dorn massage has been combined with the Breuss method, this step has already taken place before.

For the actual treatment, the patient lies loosely on his back. 1.) Checking the leg lengthThe therapist measures the patient’s leg lengths.

Then the ankle joints of the feet, the hip joints and the knee joints are brought back into the correct position. The repositioning is done with the active assistance of the patient through movement. The therapist then checks the leg lengths again.

2.) After the correction of the leg lengths, the muscles of the spine are loosened. This is why a combination of the Dorn/Breuss method is particularly suitable, as the Breuss massage is aimed precisely at this relaxation of the spine.

It is important to loosen the muscles so that spinal malpositions can be corrected more easily later. The relaxation lasts about 30 minutes. 3.)

Correction of the sacrumThe patient is asked to stand upright on a straight surface. The treating therapist now measures the sacrum and repositions it with the help of the patient. The patient stands on one leg and makes pendulum movements with the other leg to the front and back.

Meanwhile, the therapist presses on the sacrum and the coccyx. Then the muscles of the buttocks are loosened in a targeted manner to prevent the sacrum from returning to the incorrect position. 4.)

Correction of the lumbar vertebraeThe therapist also measures the 5 vertebrae in the correction of the lumbar vertebrae. The patient stands alternately on one leg and also makes pendulum movements to the front and back while the therapist brings the individual vertebrae back into the correct position from bottom to top by gentle pressure on the transverse processes. 5.) Correction of the thoracic vertebraeThe correction of the thoracic vertebrae is carried out according to the same principle, except that the patient swings his arms forward and backward instead of his leg.

6.) Correction of the cervical spineFor the correction of the cervical spine the therapist works from top to bottom. The patient moves his arms again, but at the same time moves his head in a kind of “no” movement.

During the correction of the cervical vertebrae, the therapist also checks the position of the collarbone and shoulder blade and loosens the trapezius muscle at the shoulders to support the overall correction of the upper spine. Following the Dorn therapy, the Breuss massage can be very well connected in order to additionally relax the patient and regenerate the body. The therapist usually gives the patient a series of exercises to perform at home to support the success of the therapy.
