Interactions

Delix® and other medicines containing ramipril exert a strongly enhancing influence on the blood pressure-lowering effect of the hormone insulin. In addition, the use of Delix® can increase the intensity of antidiabetics immensely. In this context, simultaneous intake can lead to circulatory problems with dizziness.

In addition, the use of Delix® interferes with the natural water and electrolyte balance. This usually leads to a reduced and slower excretion of electrolytes, which for this reason accumulate in particularly high concentrations in the organism. This fact can have an influence on treatment with so-called potassium-saving diuretics (used to increase renal excretion).

When taking Delix® and potassium-saving diuretics at the same time, special attention should therefore be paid to the potassium level. Both too low and too high a potassium concentration in the body can lead to immense heart problems and even heart failure. Since Delix® has a strong influence on vascular tone and blood pressure, it should not be taken unconditionally by some groups of patients.

There is a particular risk in people suffering from aortic and/or mitral valve stenosis (narrowing of the heart valves). Delix® must also not be taken under any circumstances by patients with other diseases that have a negative effect on the outflow of blood from the left ventricle. In primary hyperaldosterism, the body produces too much aldosterone.

Delix® should not be used in patients suffering from this disease (also known as Conn syndrome). This is because the drug has no effect on blood pressure due to the high concentration of aldosterone. People with impaired kidney function (restricted renal function) may experience a drop in blood pressure above the desired level while taking Delix®.

This is a first indication of a further deterioration in kidney function which can be triggered by the use of Delix®. Delix® or other drugs containing ramipril must not be prescribed after a kidney transplant. The most common reason against the treatment of high blood pressure with Delix® is hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or other ingredients of the drug.
