Staging of abdominal arterial occlusive disease.

Stage Findings
I Asymptomatic stage (detectable only by duplex sonography or angiography)
II Angina abdominalis (postprandial/after-meal abdominal pain)
III Abdominal persistent pain; malabsorption syndrome; possibly ischemic colitis (inflammation of the bowel due to reduced blood flow)
IV Acute mesenteric artery occlusion with mesenteric infarction
