Homeopathy as sole measure or supportive therapy?

Whether the treatment of an aphthae only with homeopathy is sufficient or whether homeopathy should rather be used as a supportive therapy depends on the characteristics of the aphthae. Since most aphthae heal on their own within a few days to weeks, treatment with homeopathic remedies alone is often sufficient to accelerate healing. However, for persistent or larger aphthae, it may be advisable to apply an additional different therapy. In this case, a consultation at the pharmacy is recommended.

When do I have to go to the doctor?

A visit to a doctor for aphthae is usually not necessary. An aphthae is a defect of the mucous membrane and is usually quite harmless. Without treatment, most aphthae heal within about 2 weeks and do not have any later consequences.

However, if an existing aphthae still has not healed after 3 weeks, it is advisable to consult a doctor. Additionally occurring symptoms, such as severe pain or a rapid increase in size should also be examined by a doctor. Also recurring aphthae can be treated by a doctor.
