Knee orthosis for injuries

The therapeutic use of a knee orthosis is recommended for the following injuries and clinical pictures: Torn anterior and posterior cruciate ligament Torn collateral ligament with or without damage to the meniscus Knee joint instability due to various causes Relief and protection after, for example, tibial head fracture, cartilage surgery and meniscus refixation Patellar dislocation Middle or lateral gonarthrosis It plays a preventive role in sports (jogging, handball, soccer, basketball, skiing) and extreme sports.

  • Tear of the anterior and posterior cruciate ligament
  • Torn collateral ligament with or without meniscus damage
  • Knee joint instability due to various causes
  • Relief and protection after tibial head fracture, cartilage surgery and meniscus refixation
  • Patellar luxation
  • Middle or lateral gonarthrosis

Mode of action

There are many different types of orthoses. Knee bandages are elastic orthoses that fit the knee tightly. On the one hand, they provide warmth and, on the other hand, stimulate blood circulation by exerting pressure on the joint.

They are used for mild knee joint arthrosis, arthritis and instability of the ligaments. The patellar tendon bandage (patellar tendon bandage) is mainly used for anterior knee pain and is fixed to the leg with Velcro fasteners. In the context of ligament instabilities, a knee guiding bandage has a therapeutic effect.

It has lateral joints that have a stabilizing effect. After a dislocation of the kneecap, functional bandages prevent a renewed dislocation. Special orthoses for ligament instabilities are made of solid material such as plastic or metal.

Joints allow movement in the knee joint while protecting against loss of stability. Post-operative knee orthoses temporarily serve as a controlled therapy. They guarantee an even positioning of the knee joint and help to execute stable movements.

There are models made of solid material as well as of elastic textiles with splints. Gonarthrosis orthoses have a multi-point system that shifts the point load. They consist of a stable frame with adjustable angle.
