Learning theory factors

The learning theory sees obsessive-compulsive disorder as the learned connection between compulsions and fears. There is the assumption that people with an OCD try to cover their fears by their behavior or by their thought processes or to live with their fears in this way. The obsessive-compulsive behavior serves as a safety net, because through repeated practice the person learns again and again that no bad consequences will follow this behavior. By this safety (compulsive) behavior the fear does not occur any more.
