Structure and properties
Lemon oil is the essential oil extracted from the fresh fruit peel of by suitable mechanical processes without heating. So, unlike other essential oils, it is not obtained by steam distillation. Lemon oil is present as a clear, slightly mobile, light yellow to greenish yellow liquid with a characteristic odor. The main constituent is (+)-limonene.
Indications for use
- For flavoring food and soft drinks with lemon flavor (e.g. “Citro”).
- For the production of perfumes.
- As a pharmaceutical excipient.
- For personal care products / cosmetics.
- For fragrance lamps, in aromatherapy.
