Various studies have shown that the body is anxious to keep the total amount of fat equal. Thus, in the studies, the removal of fatty tissue, for example using the tumescent technique, caused the body to rebuild the “lost” fatty tissue in other places within 12 weeks. Whether this trend continued after 12 weeks or was reversible was not investigated.
However, it makes it clear that there is no panacea for combating unwanted fat deposits, and that the only permanent measure for weight reduction is a conscious lifestyle. Liposuction is not paid for by health insurance companies, or only in exceptional cases. A liposuction with the tumescent technique amounts – depending on the experience and familiarity of the surgeon – to 2000€ upwards. The region and quantity of the tissue to be liposucted are of course also decisive.
