Molybdenum was not included in the National Consumption Survey II (2008). Regarding the intake of molybdenum in the German population, data exist only from a study by Holzinger et al. in 1998.
Regarding the supply situation, it can be stated:
- On average, men take 100 µg and women 89 µg molybdenum per day to themselves and thus reach the intake recommended by the DGE.
- For vegetarians, the daily molybdenum intake is even higher with 170 µg for men and 179 µg for women.
- Pregnant and lactating women have no additional requirement for molybdenum. Accordingly, the intake recommendation for molybdenum is also achieved by pregnant women and nursing mothers on average.
Since the intake recommendations of the DGE are based on the needs of healthy and normal weight people, an individual additional requirement (eg due todiet, stimulant consumption, long-term medication, etc.) may be above the intake recommendations of the DGE.
