Pain in the elbow
Various problems can lead to pain in the elbow. Mostly these are orthopedic problems. In the most common cases they are caused by overstrain and it is enough to spare the joint for a few days.
Pain caused by overstrain will then disappear by itself. Tennis or golf players are often affected. In addition, wear and tear can lead to arthrosis, as in any joint.
However, this is rather rare in the elbow joint. Bursitis of the elbow is more common. Irritation of a nerve, for example by bumping on an edge, also leads to elbow pain.
Injuries can lead to bone fractures, torn ligaments and a dislocation of the joint (luxation). These clinical pictures all lead to pain and restricted movement. In addition to the family doctor, the orthopedist is the first point of contact.
