Pain when breathing in on the right side under the ribs
If pain when inhaling is located on the right side under the ribs, one should think of diseases of organs in the abdominal cavity. In the right upper abdomen lies the liver, which is normally completely hidden behind the costal arch. In liver diseases, the organ can be greatly enlarged and thus cause pain under the ribs.
The liver is displaced downwards during inhalation and can thus cause breath-related pain. A further cause can also be complaints of the gall bladder. A very harmless cause of pain when inhaling on the right side under the costal arch can be side stings, which occur during physical activity.
In rare cases, other organs under the ribs are also responsible for the pain when breathing in. Parts of the intestine can also cause the pain.
