Introduction
When piercing a navel piercing usually pain is caused and even after that pain can still occur or continue. On the one hand, however, the pain sensation is different for each person and on the other hand it depends on different factors, for example whether a pain mediating nerve in the skin is hit. Normally, the pain is strongest during the pricking itself, but lasts only for a few seconds.
During the next few days, slight pain is also normal. However, if the pain is severe or if it reoccurs after some time, a doctor should be consulted. How strong is the pain when piercing a navel piercing?
Pain is a very subjective sensation, which is felt differently by each person, so that no general statement can be made about how strong pain is when pricking a navel piercing. Some people even say that the pricking did not cause them any pain at all, although such a statement is of course not verifiable. Most people who have a navel piercing report a short bright pain, which occurs during the piercing itself and lasts only for a few seconds at most.
However, in terms of intensity, these are usually described as moderate. But some people feel very strong pain when piercing a navel piercing and even have to cry out and get tears in their eyes. Besides the individually different pain sensation, this can also happen when a small skin nerve is hit exactly.
These cannot be recognized in advance. If a doctor stings the navel piercing, a syringe for local anesthesia may be given first. The stinging of the piercing is normally not felt at all. Some people, however, state that they have already felt the placement of the syringe as very painful.
