Prognosis
The reason for oily hair during pregnancy is usually fluctuations in the hormone balance of pregnant women. These hormonal fluctuations cannot be prevented. In addition to hormonal fluctuations, as they can occur during pregnancy, but also for example during puberty or the menopause, there are numerous other factors that have an influence on the sebum production in the sebaceous glands and can thus additionally promote the development of oily or dry hair during pregnancy.
Factors that promote oily hair are stress, heat (for example, when taking a hot shower or blow-drying), wearing hats and caps, or the excessive use of hair conditioners or hair care products containing silicones. Factors that promote dry hair are heat, use of chemicals (for example, hair dyes) or frequent washing of the hair. By avoiding these factors, the development of oily or dry hair during pregnancy can be prevented.
