Prognosis
Normally, a pituitary tumor is not immediately life-threatening, firstly because it grows very slowly and secondly because it is now well treatable. After surgery, however, side effects are often to be expected, which are due to the fact that healthy tissue of the pituitary gland also had to be removed, resulting in a hormone underfunction. However, this can be treated with medication. If a pituitary tumor remains untreated for a long time, it can be life-threatening, depending on its type and size.
