Prophylaxis
To prevent hallux rigidus, you should avoid the things that can be influenced. Among the beneficial factors are wearing suitable footwear (not too small!) and exercising sensibly.
Especially joggers should take care not to run too long distances and keep their recovery times. In the case of a known malpositioning of the metatarsophalangeal joint of the big toe, the unfavorable stress can also be at least partially counteracted with orthopedic insoles.
