Mascara DONTs

When applying mascara, some mistakes are often made. Before applying mascara, dip the brush several times in the bottle and then wipe off the edge? Wrong! Below we present the most common mascara DONTs and reveal why you should avoid them.

Mascara DONTs

  • Do not dip the brush into the bottle several times before applying. This provides unnecessary air bubbles, which do not moisten the brush evenly and make the mascara dry out faster.
  • Do not wipe the edge of the apparent residue before applying, this accelerates clumping.
  • Creams for eye care should not be applied to the eyelashes. This can make mascara on the eyelashes no longer hold properly.
  • Any mascara should be discarded after 3 to 6 months or as soon as it crumbles or smells unpleasant. The maximum shelf life is usually noted on the mascara.
  • The popular eyelash curler brings even more momentum to the lashes. But only if you are applied before applying the mascara. With brittle eyelashes, the eyelash curler is not suitable.
  • The best care for brittle eyelashes are cream mascaras with additional nourishing ingredients. Waterproof mascara should be avoided.
  • Sensitive eyes do not tolerate oily eye makeup remover.
  • Once the eyes are inflamed, for example, conjunctivitis, mascara should not be used at all during this time. After the inflammation subsides, the use of a new mascara is recommended, because the old one may still contain bacteria, which in turn cause the inflammation repeatedly.
  • Mascara should always be used only for your own eyelashes. This reduces the risk of transmitting bacteria. Lending to girlfriends is thus taboo.
