Risk of bone fracture
Although bone densitometry is very important in the diagnosis of osteoporosis, it is not the only aspect that plays a role in the risk of fracture. Therefore, the WHO has developed a model that incorporates 11 risk factors (including age and gender) in addition to bone density into an algorithm that ultimately makes it possible to estimate the likelihood of fracture in a patient over the next ten years.
- A hip fracture
- A fracture of the femoral neck
- Vertebral body fracture
- Broken spoke
