Therapy for a shoulder lesion must be strictly cause-related and appropriate to the stage (see the relevant disease for details).
General measures
- Depending on the disease and stage of disease:
- Relief and immobilization
- Sports leave
- In case of osteoarthritis or joint degeneration – see under osteoarthritis.
- In case of trauma – care depending on the nature of the injury.
- Review of permanent medication due topossible impact on the existing disease.
Conventional non-surgical therapy methods
- Analgesics (painkillers)/antiphlogistics (anti-inflammatory drugs).
- If necessary, puncture of the shoulder joint (for relief) or to install local anesthetics (painkillers for local anesthesia) and / or steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (cortisone).
Surgical therapy
- If conservative therapeutic influence is insufficient: surgical therapy depending on the nature of the disease:
- Z. E.g., ultrasound-guided fine-needle lavage (fine-needle irrigation) and surgical debridement (removal of necrotic coatings or, in this case, the calcium) for tendinosis calcarea of the shoulder (calcific shoulder) of the rotator cuff.
Sports Medicine
- After the acute phase: endurance training (cardio training) and strength training (muscle training) depending on the type of shoulder lesion.
- Strength exercises with active muscle strengthening; coordination training; gradual increase in load.
- Preparation of a fitness plan with appropriate sports disciplines based on a medical check (health check or athlete check).
- Detailed information on sports medicine you will receive from us.
Physical therapy (including physiotherapy)
- Balneological therapy:
- Physiotherapy (for prophylaxis of frozen shoulder).
- Medical training therapy
- If necessary, electrotherapy or cryotherapy
Complementary treatment methods
- Occupational therapy
- Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (e.g., for tendinosis calcarea of the shoulder (calcified shoulder) of the rotator cuff).
