Speed training for handball
For the speed training in handball there are application areas in each team part. Also the defensive players have to train speed. Hutchen sprints with a change of direction followed by a throw at the goal is just one example of how speed can be trained in handball. The cones can be built up in a zigzag pattern to simulate running in a circle.
Speed training for volleyball
In volleyball, speed training is also important to ensure team success. On the one hand, speed in defense is very important in order to fend off opponent butterflies and to be able to react as quickly as possible to deflected balls and attacking shots. Here, an exercise in which two partners alternately hit the defender with attacking balls that have to be defended is suitable.
The partners decide on the speed with which the change takes place and with which the balls are kicked. The defender must react quickly and fend off the attacking shots as far as possible. In addition to defense, speed is also of great importance in attack.
A fast short sprint to the net and a subsequent smashing ball are strongly dependent on the basic speed of a player. The faster the backswing of the ball, the more effective and harder the attack. A strong attacking stroke increases the probability to land a point and to make the game victorious in the end.
Tennis speed training
In tennis, speed is mainly reflected in the speed of reaction and anticipation. Two further types of speed, stroke speed and run speed round the requirement profile of tennis to the human speed off. Reaction and anticipation speed are important for studying the opponent and reading which movement will be next and where the ball will be hit.
The better these two variants of speed are trained, the more effectively a tennis player can defend and counterattack. The speed of the stroke and the running speed are equally important elements in tennis. Starting and changing direction, for example to reach an opponent’s serve, are fundamental to parry the serve. Above all, the speed of the stroke plays a very important role in the attack stroke and serve. The faster the backswing for both types of serve, the higher the probability of winning a point.
