Summary
In case of an existing elbow arthrosis, specific exercises can and should be carried out despite the prohibition of strain, which strengthen the muscles, give the elbow more stability and promote the mobility of the joint. At the same time, the exercises can help to relieve the pain and have a positive influence on the course of the arthrosis. Depending on the individual situation, the previous illnesses, the progress of the arthrosis and the physical constitution, an experienced therapist will draw up a training plan together with the patient, which can initially be carried out under supervision, but later on also on the patient’s own initiative.
Although the exercises for elbow arthrosis cannot cure the disease itself, they do make everyday life much easier for the patient. They not only ensure that the joint does not lose too much mobility and strength, but also slow down the progressive arthrosis process. It is important that the exercises should always be performed under the supervision of qualified personnel in order to avoid mistakes during performance and to give patients a safe feeling for performing them on their own.
