Summary | Physiotherapy for Ledderhose disease

Summary

Ledderhose disease is a fibromatosis with manifestation at the plantar aponeurosis, i.e. the tendon plate in the arch of the foot. It belongs to the same group of forms as Dupuytren’s contracture, but only very rarely leads to joint changes. The formation of nodes in the connective tissue can cause severe pain, which can progress over time and restrict the gait pattern.

The therapy is conservative and includes physiotherapy, cryotherapy and orthopedic insoles. Stretching exercises and fascia therapy for the vault can be helpful in conservative therapy. Foot deformities rarely occur due to the Ledderhose disease.
