The diagnosis of breast pricking
The symptom “Stinging in the chest” can be caused by many different diseases. In order to make a good diagnosis, the treating physician must first ask questions about the exact nature of the pain, its intensity and its temporal course. This is followed by a physical examination to see whether the pain is triggered by movement, for example. Possible further examinations are, depending on the suspicion of the physician, an ECG, a laboratory examination, an ultrasound examination or imaging by means of CT or MRT. Not all of these examinations are always useful, so different procedures can be selected depending on the type of pain described.
Associated symptoms
Depending on the accompanying symptoms with the stinging in the breast, other diseases may be the cause of the complaints. Here are some examples. Heart stumbling, heart rhythm disturbances: Note for a disease of the heart Fever: Occurs with pericardial inflammation, pleurisy, pneumonia or simple colds together with a stabbing in the chest.
Respiratory distress: In case of a heart attack, asthma, pulmonary embolism, pneumonia or pneumothorax Circulatory problems, dizziness: In case of high blood pressure, pulmonary embolism, heart attack, aortic dissection (splitting of the wall layers of the aorta, pneumothorax (collapsed lung) Back pain: In case of tension, hardening of the muscles, “trapped” nerves. Heartburn, difficulty swallowing: Diseases of the esophagus Feeling of fullness: Diseases of the stomach, e.g. hernia (part of the stomach is in the chest) Pulmonary embolism Aortic dissection

Back pain is a common accompanying symptom of stabbing pains in the chest.
Many people suffer due to too little movement and an incorrect sitting position, e.g. when sitting in a chair.B. during their professional activity in the office, under tension of the back muscles or so-called vertebral body blockades. These tensions irritate nerves either at their exit points from the spine or during their course to the muscles they supply. These nerve irritations then become noticeable, usually at rest or during other movements, as a short prick in the chest.
