The prognosis | Neurodermatitis of the scalp

The prognosis

Neurodermatitis most frequently occurs in childhood. Especially in small children it appears for the first time as a so-called milk crust. However, neurodermatitis can also manifest itself in the scalp area in adolescents and adults.

If neurodermatitis already begins in early childhood, there is a relatively high probability that the severity of the disease will be significantly reduced until adulthood. Approximately 60% of those affected in childhood are symptom-free in young adulthood. A hypersensitivity of the skin remains however with nearly all Neurodermitis patients so that a lifelong adequate care of the skin is necessary.
