Therapy | Kidney pain when urinating

Therapy

Acute kidney pain can be treated with common painkillers such as paracetamol or Novalgin. Whether the application of warmth does good and can be carried out should be tried out in individual cases, but should be avoided as soon as possible if the symptoms become more severe. Further treatment depends on the cause of the complaints.

If a urinary tract infection or an inflammation of the renal pelvis is the cause of the complaints, antibiotic treatment should be started as soon as possible. In the case of a kidney stone, the amount of fluid to be drunk should be increased and sufficient exercise should be taken. However, if the kidney stone does not come loose, it can be destroyed by a so-called shock wave treatment. If this procedure does not help either, the stone must be removed by endoscopy. All further findings about kidney diseases gained by biopsy must be intensively clarified in the Department of Nephrology, if necessary also in an inpatient setting.

Kidney pain when urinating during pregnancy

Particularly during pregnancy, changes in the urge to urinate and urination often occur. One reason for this is that the growing child increasingly displaces the organs of the abdominal cavity. This can also compress the ureters and cause the urine to back up into the kidney.

This represents an increased risk of developing an inflammation of the renal pelvis.Such an inflammation of the renal pelvis (pyelonephritis) can manifest itself as renal pain when urinating and should be treated as soon as possible. Another cause of kidney pain during pregnancy, which occurs during urination, is a urinary tract infection. This is particularly common during pregnancy. A urinary tract infection should also be treated with antibiotics as soon as possible, as it can rise and lead to inflammation of the renal pelvis.
