Therapy
The treatment approach for oily skin, which is due to nutritional causes, is to change the diet. In doing so, foods that drive sebum production should be avoided. Instead, more food should be consumed that promotes the regeneration of the skin.
In implementing this change in food intake, nutritional advice can be of benefit. If this form of treatment does not work, other causes of oily skin must also be considered. The hormone balance is the focus of attention, as it is the most frequent cause of oily skin.
Prognosis
Nutritionally induced oily skin can be combated by changing the diet. However, since in many cases the diet is not the main cause of the problematic skin conditions, often no success is achieved by changing the diet and the oily skin persists. However, since oily skin has no pathological value but is a cosmetic problem, the problem can be tackled in peace. If necessary, the cause of oily skin can be found out with the help of a dermatologist and treated accordingly. If there is a permanent overproduction of the sebaceous glands of the skin, the pores of the skin become increasingly clogged and inflamed so that acne develops, which can also be painful due to the increased skin tension and local inflammatory reaction.
