These nasal sprays with cortisone are available
While still some years ago most Cortisone-containing nasal sprays were prescription only, many of these nasal sprays are to be acquired in the meantime freely for sale. However, there are still some exceptions. For example, when purchasing Nasonex ® Nasal Spray, Mometasone Fuorate ® Nasal Spray, Momegalen ® Nasal Spray, Beclometasone Ratiopharm ® Nasal Spray and Avamys ® Nasal Spray a prescription must be presented. Risks side effects of nasal sprays against allergy
Antiallergic nasal sprays are relatively low in side effects. However, some possible side effects must be considered. Nasal sprays containing cortisone can have the following side effects: Nasal sprays containing cromoglicic acid or antihistamines can also cause irritation of the nasopharynx, headaches and taste disorders.
- Irritation symptoms in the nose and throat area – these include burning or tingling sensations
- Dehydration of the mucous membrane of the nose and throat, which in turn can lead to increased nosebleeds
- The occurrence of ulcers in the area of the nasal mucosa is promoted
- It can lead to disturbances of the sense of smell and taste
- Headaches are possible
- Possibly increased risk of upper respiratory tract infections
