Through alcohol

Gastrointestinal problems can be caused by alcohol in two ways. If too much alcohol is consumed at once, nausea and vomiting can occur as a result of alcohol poisoning. The vomiting center in the brain is irritated by the alcohol.

In addition, long-term use of a high amount of alcohol can damage the stomach and/or intestinal mucosa. These damages can be very painful on the one hand, and on the other hand there is a risk of bleeding.
