One application lasts between 10 and 15 minutes and is performed in a tub filled with tap water and direct current. The applications are performed at least three times a week until success is achieved and then the success is maintained by one session per week.The therapy can also be carried out simply from home using home devices. Due to the gentle methods and freedom from side effects, the procedure is suitable for almost all patients. Only patients with implanted electronic devices, such as a defibrillator or pacemaker, or patients with metal implants or large skin defects are not recommended for iontophoresis.

Preparations with up to 20% aluminum chloride are also suitable for use on the head. The best preparations are those in dropper bottles, which can be applied to the affected area using the fingers or a cotton ball. Of course, it is generally important to determine the cause of the excessive sweating and to treat it at the beginning. Of course, medication can also be used to prevent sweating on the head.
