Definition and effectiveness
Valerian Dispert® are special forms of valerian tablets and, like the classic valerian tablets, contain mainly dry extracts of valerian root. Besides tablets and capsules, valerian is also available as tea, tincture or juice. Valerian Dispert® is not subject to prescription in Germany and is available in pharmacies and drugstores.
It is not paid for by health insurance companies. The ingredients of the valerian root have been proven to have a mild medicinal effect on sleep disorders, stress, but also, for example, on a nervous stomach. The most important ingredients are valerenic acid and valerenol.
Dose and intake
Compared to regular valerian tablets, Valerian Dispert® has a significantly lower dose and is therefore particularly suitable for long-term use in cases of sleep disorders or mental stress. There are various Valerian Dispert® products that contain different additional plant extracts depending on the area of application. The additives differ particularly in the case of the Valerian Dispert preparations that are intended only for falling asleep or only for the day.
It is usually recommended to take 1 tablet 1-3 times a day for restlessness. If the tablets are used for sleep disorders, they should be taken about one hour before falling asleep. They should be taken unchewed with some water.
Due to the large number of different valerian preparations, it is advisable to read the package leaflet carefully before taking the tablets and follow the dosage instructions. As there are insufficient data on the use of valerian preparations in children under 12 years of age, it should not be used in children under 12 years of age.
