Vomiting (Emesis): Test and Diagnosis

Laboratory parameters of the 1st order – obligatory laboratory tests.

Laboratory parameters 2nd order – depending on the results of the history, physical examination, etc. – for differential diagnostic clarification.

  • Thyroid parameters – TSH
  • Pancreatic parameters – amylase, elastase (in serum and stool), lipase.
  • Highly sensitive cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) or troponin I (hs-cTnI) – in suspected myocardial infarction (heart attack).
  • Pregnancy test (quantitative HCG).
  • CSF puncture (collection of cerebrospinal fluid by puncture of the spinal canal) for CSF diagnosis – if meningitis (meningitis) is suspected.
