What is educational assistance?

What is meant by educational assistance?

By educational assistance one understands national achievements of the child and juvenile welfare service (usually over the youth welfare offices), which can take place both in stationary and in ambulatory form. A claim to these services exists if the welfare of the child or adolescent is not guaranteed with regard to education and help is necessary. Educational assistance therefore refers to educational or therapeutic services.

How can I receive the educational assistance?

Educational assistance is a voluntary service of the state. There are different problem situations or life situations, with which the employment of an educating assistance is recommended. Families with the following problems or similar difficulties can count on the approval of an educational assistance of the youth welfare department.

Such conflicts/problems include a massive difficulty in coping with life of the parents. In addition, family problems, for example serious conflicts between parents and children or the children running away from home for the use of an educational assistance can lead, as well as lack of social skills on the part of both parents and children. In addition, relationship problems, which can lead to behavioral problems, can also lead to the need for educational assistance. Problems that do not take place directly between the parents and the children or young people can also justify educational assistance. These include, for example, refusal to attend school, learning and performance disorders, crime, as well as drug use and addiction problems.

Who bears the costs of educational assistance?

Educational assistance is not only voluntary but also free of charge for the beneficiary. It is irrelevant, which form of an educating assistance it concerns, this can take place also stationarily. The costs are carried in Germany by the state by the youth welfare offices. These provide the services themselves or take over the costs of services provided in other institutions.
