What is the connection with neurodermatitis?
In some cases it is difficult to distinguish neonatal acne from neurodermatitis – dermatitis atopica. A direct connection between the two skin diseases could not be found so far. However, it is noticeable that if a child has sensitive skin at such an early age, other skin diseases are more likely to occur during the course of development.
Newborn acne occurs preferably on the head and face and does not itch. Neurodermatitis can begin from the 3rd month of life with milk crust on the head and rashes affecting the whole body. The itching is so severe that the children often scratch themselves bloody.
