What to do in case of a skin rash caused by mites?
The most common skin rash caused by mites is the so-called scabies. This disease is caused by the so-called scabies mites, which bore into the uppermost skin layers and form mite ducts there. The skin is typically reddened and very itchy.
In the case of scabies, immediate treatment with the active ingredient permethrin is necessary because the disease is highly infectious. Close contact persons, such as roommates, partners, children or friends should be informed that they may have been infected. They can then consult a doctor immediately if symptoms occur. Clothes, bed linen, towels and narrow items of daily use (e.g. blood pressure cuffs) should be washed at least at 50°C.
