Pain on the outside

Pain that occurs on the outside of the foot can be caused, for example, by the so-called “tailor bunion” (small toe bunion). This is a malpositioning of the little toe, which usually occurs as a result of a splayfoot. Due to the splayfoot, a bulge develops on the outer edge of the foot.

The little toe is pressed inwards in this foot malposition, the base joint is then overloaded and can swell. Pressure points form above the metacarpophalangeal joint due to the changed shape of the foot. To prevent or alleviate the pain in the foot, it is recommended to wear wide shoes, to wear custom-made insoles or even to do without shoes themselves, i.e. to walk barefoot.

If all these measures do not help, there is still the possibility of corrective surgery. Another cause can be, for example, malpositioning of the legs, which causes pain due to an incorrect rolling movement when running. A strain of the ligaments located there can of course also cause pain in the foot.

Pain on the inside

Pain on the inside of the foot can be acute due to an injury, but often it is chronic due to foot deformities that develop over the years. The flat foot (Pes planus) and the flat foot (Pes valgus) play a major role in this case. The flat foot is caused by a weakness of the muscles and ligaments.

These actually serve to maintain the arch of the foot, which is called longitudinal and transverse arch. Due to the constant strain of standing and walking, the weakness of the structures gradually develops a flattening in the longitudinal arch, resulting in the flat foot. The changed statics now cause pain in the foot, which occurs mainly in the area of the inner side.

Pain in the calf or knee area can also occur as a result. Not only the flat foot can lead to pain in the foot, but also the flat foot. However, it is often accompanied by a flat foot.

With a flat foot, the inner edge of the foot is lowered and the outer edge of the foot is raised. As a result, the foot bends inwards. Here, too, there is a change in the statics, which not only affects the foot, but the entire statics of the body. Therapeutically, it is recommended to build up the holding muscles through specific training. In case of an increase in complaints, a supply of insoles is also highly recommended.
