Conventional nonsurgical therapeutic procedures
- Initial therapy: removal of possible etiologic factors:
- Mechanically irritative tooth edges/restorations.
- Modification or new fabrication of ill-fitting dentures
- Clinical control after elimination of the possible causes until complete regression of leukoplakia.
- Without regression tendency after two weeks referral to specialist control / biopsy.
- Systematic follow-up controls
- Every six months in the case of non-dysplastic leukoplakia.
- Every three months in case of dysplastic leukoplakia
- Long-term controls regardless of the type of therapy
