Medicinally used plant parts
Leaves and roots are obtained from the wild strawberry, but have no significant medicinal effect. However, the leaves have a pleasant smell and taste and are therefore often used as a house tea, often mixed with blackberry leaves or woodruff.
Ingredients
Tanning agents (mainly in the roots), little essential oil, vitamin C, flavonoids.
Curative effects and application
No significant healing effect. Use as a house tea. Pastor Kneipp recommends strawberry leaf tea as a drink for weak children and is said to promote their health.
Preparation
Tea: Pour 1⁄4 l boiling water over 2 heaped teaspoons of strawberry leaves, leave to infuse for 15 minutes, strain.
