Arsenic triiodide
Introduction
The 24th salt Arsenicum iodatum (also Arsenum iodatum) is used especially for diseases of the lungs and allergies such as hay fever. Furthermore it is the main remedy for:
- Tuberculosis
- Pneumonia
- Pleurisy
Use of Arsenicum iodatum for the following complaints
- Weakness
- Night sweat and
- Emaciation
- Acne
- Allergies
- Hay fever
What effects does Arsenicum iodatum have?
The original substance of this Schüssler salt preparation is arsenic triiodide, i.e. it contains the chemical elements arsenic and iodine. Arsenic is known to many people for its poisonous effects, but in small doses arsenic is considered a trace element. In contrast to most other trace elements, the exact functions of arsenic in the body have not been fully clarified.
However, experiments on an arsenic-free diet in animals have shown growth disturbances to be a possible consequence of an arsenic deficiency. It is therefore assumed that humans have a – albeit very low – basic requirement for arsenic, which is 5 to 50 micrograms per day. The substance iodine is needed in the body in the thyroid gland.
Here it is used to produce the thyroid hormone thyroxine, which – generally speaking – is responsible for the metabolism. A lack of iodine leads to goitre, as the thyroid gland tries to store and retain more iodine. If the iodine deficiency persists for a long time, a thyroid hormone deficiency is the further consequence. Poor metabolism, brittle nails and hair, dry skin, fatigue and even depressive mood can all indicate an iodine deficiency, which can be alleviated by using Arsenum iodatum. – Lungs

What are the side effects of Arsenicum iodatum?
Even though arsenic compounds are toxic to humans and animals even in low doses, there is no need to worry when taking this Schüssler salt: the preparations are so highly diluted that it actually contains hardly any molecules of the element arsenic. The same applies to iodine: here too, hardly any molecules are present in the preparation. No side effects are therefore to be expected when treating with Arsenum iodatum. Nevertheless, a certain amount of caution is necessary, especially when treating yourself. A long-term therapy with this Schuessler salt is only recommended after consultation with an appropriate specialist such as an alternative practitioner or a pharmacist.
Usual dosage
Common:
- Tablets, (drops) D4, D6
- Ampoules D6
Arsenicum iodatum Globules
Like other salts, Arsenum iodatum can also be given in the form of globules. In this case normally the potency D12 is chosen. How many globules of it can be taken at once, but should be discussed in any case with the treating healer. Even though the concentration of arsenic iodide in the globules is normally extremely low or even zero due to the homeopathic manufacturing process, arsenic as a carcinogenic substance should always be used with caution.
