Associated symptoms | Skin rash from sweating

Associated symptoms

The small heat spots themselves are usually annoying, but harmless. Some of them are accompanied by an unpleasant itching and in rare cases they can even cause the production of sweat in the affected skin area to dry up, which then requires cooling from the outside to prevent the skin from overheating.

Diagnosis

The diagnosis of heat pimples is usually a gaze diagnosis. This means that no further major medical tests are necessary for the professional to detect heat spots. Since pimples are not caused by the sun’s rays per se, but by heat, they tend to form in tightly spaced areas of the body and in skin folds.

In babies, they can in principle occur all over the body. Sweat pimples can be divided into three different forms. Miliaria crystallina are small and painless.

They disappear by themselves after a few days. The Miliaria rubra are larger red lumps that are covered with itching. The Miliaria profunda are very rare and appear as flesh-colored wavy skin discolorations. The dermatologist can often tell at first glance which form it is.

Therapy

Medical treatment of heat pimples is usually not necessary. The small blisters disappear as quickly as they appeared and do not leave any consequential damage. In the acute situation, it is often helpful to stay in air-conditioned rooms and make sure that you wear breathable clothing.

Physical exertion should be avoided. If the itching is very severe, those affected can apply a zinc oxide mixture known as Calamine Lotion. This soothes the burning sensation and cares for the skin.

Only in rare cases, when the formation of heat pimples also impairs sweat production, as can occur with miliaria rubra and profunda, cooling countermeasures must be taken, as otherwise the affected persons run the risk of overheating.Since the small sweat pimples preferably develop on skin that is too moist, baths with additives that dry out the skin are a good way to combat the blisters. Especially apple vinegar, oak bark and sage are said to have such an effect. Homeopathy offers various creams and ointments which contain mahonia or ashes, for example, which promise a healing effect. In cases of very strong sweat production, which is associated with the formation of sweat pimples, it has often proved to be effective to have an iontophoresis performed, which inhibits the sweat production and thus promises a remedy. However, this should be performed by an experienced homeopath.
