Duration of the rash

The small heat spots usually appear quite quickly in the acute situation of overheating of the body and then remain for a few days. After a week at the latest, the small unpleasant but completely harmless blisters disappear again without any consequences. If this is not the case, a visit to a doctor is advisable, as the clinical picture may be different from that of the classic miliaria heat spots. Also, if the small blisters become worse or even inflamed, a visit to the doctor is recommended.

Skin rash from sweating in infants and toddlers

Infants and toddlers are particularly prone to the formation of sweat pimples. Unlike in adults, the problem is not limited to the skin folds and tightly fitting body regions, but can occur anywhere. One theory assumes that the sweat glands of the skin are not yet fully developed at birth and only become fully functional over time.

In the meantime, the glands are particularly susceptible to increased sweat production and blockage of the fine glandular ducts, which in turn leads to the formation of sweat pimples. As with adults, pimples are not dangerous in themselves, but can become worse and inflamed if they are not treated properly. If the problem occurs more often or if the pimples take an unusually long time to heal, a pediatrician or dermatologist should be consulted, as in these cases other clinical pictures, such as an allergy, intolerance, neurodermatitis or psoriasis could also be involved.

If this is the case, medical intervention is required. If it concerns the usual sweat pimples, the same recommendations apply as for adults. Keep the skin dry and protect it from further exposure to heat.

If itching is severe, use special creams or, if the skin is too hot, cool it carefully with a damp cloth or a towel. The pimples should disappear after a few days and leave no damage to the skin.
