The following are the most important diseases or complications that may be contributed to by pediculosis corporis (clothes louse infestation):
Blood, blood-forming organs – Immune system (D50-D90).
- Iron deficiency anemia (anemia due to iron deficiency; in case of severe infestation).
Infectious and parasitic diseases (A00-B99).
- (Louse) typhus exanthemicus – infectious disease caused by the bacterium Rickettsia prowazekii and transmitted by the clothes louse.
- Lice fever – infectious disease caused by the bacterium Borrelia recurrentis and transmitted the clothes louse.
- Plague (possible, i.e. not to be excluded!)
- Wolhynia fever (five-day fever, trench fever) – infectious disease caused by the bacterium Bartonella quintana and transmitted the clothes louse.
- Superinfection of scratch wounds, especially on the back of the head, neck and behind the ears.
