Can a nail polish be applied parallel to the tablets?
An antimycotic nail polish can often be used in addition to systemic therapy with nail fungus tablets. Whether or not this makes sense should ultimately be decided individually after consultation with a physician. However, it should be noted that during pregnancy there is a contraindication for the widely used antimycotic Cyclopirox nail polish.
Tablets against nail fungus and alcohol consumption
The question whether alcohol may be drunk while taking nail fungus tablets is very controversial. In general, it should be assumed that the pathogens responsible for nail fungus are microorganisms whose growth can be influenced by various measures.For this reason, some experts recommend a special diet in case of a fungal infection, for example nail fungus. In this context, the reduction of glucose content in particular should play a decisive role.
In this way the reproduction of the nail fungus can be inhibited. Persons who take tablets against nail mycosis should therefore urgently avoid the consumption of sugar-containing alcohol (e.g. mixed drinks). In addition, the effect of nail fungus tablets can be inhibited by the consumption of alcohol such as beer, wine, sparkling wine, liqueur or liquor.
