The following are the most important diseases or complications that can be caused by cervical carcinoma (cancer of the uterine cervix):
Neoplasms – Tumor diseases (C00-D48).
- Bone metastases
- Continuous growth into adjacent structures such as the uterus (womb), vagina (vagina), or parametria (connective tissue structures of the pelvic cavity that extend from the wall of the cervix to the urinary bladder, os sacrum (sacrum), and the inner lateral wall of the pelvis) → Walls around the ureters → Ischuria (urinary retention); rarely, the urinary bladder or rectum (rectum) are affected
- Lymph node metastases
- Liver metastases
- Lung metastases
- Malignant melanoma (primary melanoma) (12.5 times standardized incidence rate as ratio of observed to expected tumor incidence)
Psyche – Nervous System (F00-F99; G00-G99).
- Anxieties
- Depression
- Enuresis (involuntary wetting)
- Libido disorders
Symptoms and abnormal clinical and laboratory findings not elsewhere classified (R00-R99).
- Diarrhea (diarrhea; in state n. radiotherapy).
- Fatigue (tiredness)
- Nocturia (urination at night)
Genitourinary system (kidneys, urinary tract – sex organs) (N00-N99)
- Dysfunctions of the bladder
- Dyspareunia (pain during sexual intercourse).
- Incontinence (bladder weakness)
- Climacteric symptoms: Hot flashes (about one third of patients).
- Dry vagina
Digestive system (K00-K93)
- Dysfunctions of the rectum
Further
- Carcinoma bleeding, which can be life-threatening (in advanced cervical carcinoma).
- Shortening of the vagina
- Decreased vaginal lubrication (“getting wet”).
- Worse sex life than before therapy
