Common diseases
In view of the diverse functions of our cranial nerves, there are theoretically typical symptoms or diseases for each of them (see table). Often, however, certain combinations of failures occur, such asB. Damage to IX, X and XI because they are close together at the base of the skull and run through a common hole (jugular foramen).
So-called double images occur in disorders (lesions) of III, IV and VI whenever the visual axes of both eyes no longer coincide. This is the case when the eyeballs (bulbi) in the orbit are aligned differently.
