Contraindications | Zovirax eye ointment

Contraindications

Zovirax® Eye Ointment should not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to acyclovir or valaciclovir. The ointment should also not be used if the immune system is very weak or if the mucous membrane of the eye is not intact.

Interactions

There are no known interactions when using Zovirax® eye ointment. However, the doctor should be informed about diseases, allergies and medications. In particular, the doctor should be informed about the intake of Probenecid, a gout remedy, as this can reduce the excretion of the active ingredient acyclovir.

Application for children

Zovirax® Eye Ointment can also be used to treat a herpes simplex infection in children.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

There are no known risks for the unborn child that could result from the treatment of the mother during pregnancy. Breastfeeding does not have to be interrupted during treatment either.
