Cyclandelate was commercially available in many countries in the form of dragées (Cyclandelat Streuli). It was approved in 1973 and went out of commerce in 2012.

Effects

Cyclandelate (ATC C04AX01) has vasodilator properties. It has a direct papaverine-like effect on smooth muscle, particularly that of the vessels. Vasodilation leads to an increase in digital pulse volume and body temperature. Muscular and cerebral blood flow increase. Blood pressure, heart rhythm, and heart rate are barely affected.

Indications

For symptomatic therapy in:

  • Peripheral vascular disease
  • Cerebral circulatory disorders
